Asia Radio - My Life, My Passion

ASIA started her radio career in September 2001 as an on-air intern at pop station, Star 107.3 (WBBT) in Richmond, Virginia. She was “bit by the radio bug,” as she watched night jock Javier Hernandez, who had a passion for radio. By 2002, she had her sights set on cross-town urban mainstream station, Power 92.1 Jamz (WCDX). Then-program director, Lamonda Williams gave her a shot as board operator. ASIA got her foot in the door! In March 2002, The Heavy Hitter DJ Lonnie B gave her a shot on-air. Together they started a Sunday night show called “Straight from the Streets,” along with producer, Danja Mouf as co-host.

Almost a year later, in February 2003, ASIA became Radio One-Richmond’s Production Assistant, from the teachings of then-Production Assistant, Dameon Marshall and of National Production Director, Jay Carneal. Simultaneously, she began working at urban mainstream station, Hot 102.1/107.9 (WWHV/WWBR) in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Sundays (10a-2p). By Fall 2003, ASIA returned to Sunday nights with The Heavy Hitter DJ Lonnie B. The popular time slot is now known as “The Sunday Nite Mixtape.” (Power 92.1 Jamz, Richmond, VA)

In 2004, she decided to get serious and learn about the art of mixing from The Heavy Hitter DJ Lonnie B. She continues to practice and seek direction from any and every DJ that crosses her path.

Since then, she has also voiced commercials for clients such as Dollar Tree and Louisiana Department of Health.

ASIA is a perfectionist who strives to be one of the best in the industry…constantly trying to sharpen her growing list of skills and talents. She hopes to become a program director of a radio station and own a production company, specializing in radio imaging.
